Grace Kanchana: Week 2 Character thumbnails

Note: Everything is a WIP

Story:

In the future where modern society was able to advance with prosperity and flourish with extensive discoveries, it was a utopia. Many were living the lives they have always dreamed of and wondered if there was ever such thing as having a limitation. As advances were made, people thought besides having advance machinery and a satisfying luxury of being able to thrive can occur. Can humans really be able to evolve to their fullest potential? An approach was made, what if humans were to inject themselves with a certain type of genetic code that made them truly “thrive”. Scientists were able to experiment with the radioactive waste from the nuclear plants and made a discovery that by using the waste they were able to mutate human DNA to become far more greater. This was a revelation that was approved by the public thus people left and right were injecting themselves with these man-made radioactive genes in order to make them super-human. People were happy with this new invention but alas these moments of gratification cannot last. People were mutating, becoming something they weren’t used and appearing as horrid creatures that not even the naked eye can stomach down. Alongside these drastic mutations, many died as these severe transformation took a toll on their body, as if they they were just a vessel for something far more alarming, losing their minds in the process. Chaos ensued as many killed one another and only a few were left, those who didn’t inject themselves and those who did.

The Handicap (The Drunkard):
Blank was never to type to fall into his/her temptations as a working. He/she was responsible and lived a life caring about his/her family in this so called utopia, until one day everything fell into pieces. Blank got into an accident, rendering him/her handicapped for the rest of his/her life. Blank into despair and divulged him/herself into many pointless activities, such as drinking, smoking, and gambling, leaving behind what he/she cared about the most. He/She distanced him/herself away from the family, trying to fill in a void that will never be filled. Although the discovery of the new genetic injection was made, Blank will never be able to take it due to the sole fact that only a completely healthy “normal” human being will only be able to sustain its power. Blank despises the injections and wanted to get away from society since he/she will never be able to be “normal” again. The injections took a toll and everyone transformed into something far more alarming than ever and many lost their minds to the genetic mutations, many had killed one another and falling victims to this was Blank's family. Blank vowed to pick him/herself up and to find a cure amidst in all this chaos, despite the tragedy that had befallen in his/her life.

The Teen (The Runaway):
Blank considered him/herself as a rebel. He/she didn't want to go to school, didn't want to listen to his/her parents, and didn't want to abide by society's rules and constructs. He/she spends most of his time in his/her hideout, which was located in an abandoned junkyard. He/she spends most of his/her time tinkering with random objects in a place which he/she calls home, something he/she never once had. His/her parents were always fighting and he/she had no close friends at school despite his/her constant attempts in making a desperate connection (because of the broken one he/she had at home). There were some days Blank never came back home and stayed at the junkyard, not knowing about the news about the genetic injections. After some while, he/she decided to wander back home, the air around the city being more eerie than usual. He/she has been gone for who knows how long and after coming home finds his parents brutally murdered, Blank was devastated. Not knowing how to channel how he/she feels Blank runs and screams throughout his/her neighborhood and encounters things he/she has never seen before. The “thing” attacked Blank and luckily he/she managed to escape its grasp. Determined, Blank wanted to know what had happened to the city and how his/her parents died.

The child (The Outcast)
Blank never did fit in at school and spent most of his/her time daydreaming. He/she was always interested in the unknown and things came to be, a subject many of his/her peers never did understand. When he/she tried to communicate his ideas to his parents, they just shook their heads and pretended to understand, something Blank came to hate very much. He/she dove into his books as a learning experience and also as an escape since no one wanted to try to understand him/her. He/she was branded as the school's weirdo, not like Blank could care any less. Eventually, when the news came out about the genetic injections, Blank's family were the one of the first 100 to sign up. Blank disagreed with the idea, stating that his/her instincts said something can horribly go wrong with the whole ordeal, that it was “fishy”. After many arguments, Blank's parents decided to get the injections without Blank and became what they wanted to be, super-human. They did everything more efficiently and swiftly, something Blank didn't agree with. Eventually Blank started to notice a change in their behavior. They eventually mutated and lost their minds, becoming monsters. Blank's mother killed his/her father and came after Blank and in self-defense Blank killed his/her mother.

Extra note:
The three eventually meet up by fate and their hideout ends up being the junkyard the runaway stayed in. Even though they didn't get along at first and had different goals, they all had a connection never like before. They all understood each other and had lost their families from the injections and agreed on staying together until there is a way to solve this destruction that had befallen.
